FSC & LEED - Wood is green again!

FSC is the mark of sustainable forestry. Period.
They are they most comprehensive environmental
forest certification system available. It is for
this reason that AMSL: Architectural Millwork underwent an audit to become FSC Chain
of Custody certified. This means that our mill
can now produce products that bear the FSC logo
with the promise that the wood used in the
product is both environmentally and socially
sustainable.
For more information about
the Forest Stewardship Council
http://www.fsc.org, the
process of certification, and the values that
they represent check out their website.
LEED is the most popular
green building standard in the
United States
and for good reason. It is a quantifiable system
that uses a combination of credits and
prerequisites to define levels of greenness or
environmentally friendliness for an entire
building. Buildings that are built to these
standards are healthier, use less energy and
water, and tend to improve the land they occupy.
Our estimators are familiar with the system and
we have several LEED APs that are available to
answer your questions relating to the
certification system.
